Your account
Delete your Amara account
Amara, by [Developer name as on Google Play]. You can also delete it in the app: Profile › Settings › Account › Delete account.
What happens
Your profile disappears immediately and you’re signed out everywhere. Most of your data is erased 30 days after you ask. Sign in to the app before then to change your mind.
What we keep, and why
After those 30 days, we keep:
- payment records, without your name or number, for as long as tax law requires;
- reports, moderation records and evidence, for up to 2 years after the case is decided;
- records of our team’s actions (the audit log), for 2 years, with your personal details removed;
- support messages you sent us, for 12 months. They aren’t linked to your account, so ask support if you want them deleted sooner;
- if the account was banned, keyed hashes of the phone number, email and Google or Apple ID, so they can’t be used to rejoin.
Your answer to “Why are you leaving?” is erased with your account. Banned accounts can’t be restored while the ban stands. Suspended and banned accounts are still erased 30 days after you ask.
Subscriptions
Plans billed by us stop renewing when you delete your account, and paid time isn’t refunded (see the Terms of Service). Plans from the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled there, because deleting your account doesn’t cancel them: go to your App Store subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions.
Signed up with Google or Apple?
Deleting here needs the phone number on your account. Without one, delete in the app (Profile › Settings › Account), or contact support and we’ll email a confirmation link to the address on your account. Your account is scheduled for deletion only when you open that link and confirm.
